BOWS All bows have a maximum damage range of 15-28, and can be categorized into five types. There are 3 defining attributes: arc, range, and speed. Each splits into high, medium, and low values. Arc determines the amount of time an arrow stays in the air. The higher the arc, the more airtime, and the longer the delay between your shot and the hit. Having a high arc decreases your accuracy on a moving target, as the enemy has more time to dodge your arrow. Arc can be altered by the ranger skills Read The Wind, and Favorable Winds. Either skill will lower the arc on any bow drastically. Range determines the distance that you can start an attack on the target. Long range is almost twice the aggro radius, medium is at a wand or staff's range, and short is at about 2/3 the aggro radius. These measurements can change relative to your elevation to the target; If you are higher than the enemy, your range increases and if you are lower than the enemy, your range decreases. Attacking from "high ground" also has the benefit of a damage bonus--possibly from your attacks striking the weaker armor of the head. **NOTE: The ranger skill Point Blank Shot is currently the most damaging bow attack, but it has a massive handicap where it cuts your range in half. This is similar to the elementalist skill Ice Spear; use it with caution, as you can find yourself running uncomfortably close to the enemy when doing so! Speed refers to the normal refire rate of the bow, at 2.7, 2.5, and 2.0 seconds. Every bow has a 2.0 second animation for their initial shot, and each consecutive shot then uses the bow's refire rate. Speed boosting stances such as Tiger's Fury, Frenzy, or Flurry are applied on both initial and refire rates for the duration of their effect. A 33% faster shot translates into a 25% reduction of normal firing rate: Initial shots would clock at 1.5 seconds, slow bows would refire at 2.025 seconds, average bows at 1.875 seconds, and fast bows at 1.5 seconds. | ||||
