NPC's
There is an NPC in Ascalon City (post-searing) named Ellie Rigby, who talks about all the lonely people. In the Beatles' song Eleanor Rigby, they also talk about all the lonely people.

Galstaff the Light, a Collector out near the Temple of Ages, is a reference to the Summoner end game video.

Gurn Blanston was the name Steve Martin claimed was his real name on one of his early comedy albums, and he said that he was going to release an educational series called Learn with Gurn.

The necromancer Verata is named after the line used to open the Necronomicon in the Evil Dead series: Klaatu Verata Nicto; which in turn comes from the film The Day the Earth Stood Still.

When protecting Confessor Dorian from the undead if you keep clicking on him he says "When they come, we form a circle, backs to each other". This is a line from the film, The 13th Warrior.

If you spam-click on Prince Rurik, he will tell you that he's a 9th century Russian ruler who established a 700 year ruling dynasty. And yes, there really was a Rurik who ruled in early Russia.

The Canthan Arena guard for the Competition Arenas in Lion's Arch is named Lo Pan, which is the name of the villian in the film Big Trouble in Little China.

Isabeau Navarre (a collector in The Wilds) is a reference to the film, Ladyhawke. The lead female character was named Isabeau and the lead male character was named Navarre. They had been cursed and she was a hawk by day and he was a wolf by night.

The rune trader in The Amnoon Oasis is named Lelu, like Leeloo, the lead character in the film, The Fifth Element.

A reference to GW itself?
When you buy your storage account from a Xunlai Agent for the first time, the npc says that "You only have to pay once and you will have lifetime access, and there will never ever be any monthly fees".

Skill references
Bonetti's Defense is from the film, The Princess Bride.
"Ah, you're using Bonetti's defense against me, eh?"
"I thought it fitting, considering the rough terrain."
The NPC Farrah Capo is a twisting of the name Ridolfo Capo Ferro. Rocco Bonetti and Ridolfo Capo Ferro were actual fencing masters from the late 16th and early 17th centuries.

"For Great Justice!" and "Make Your Time!" are lines from the introduction of Zero Wing, which is the game that gave us the famous "All your base are belong to us" mistranslation.

"Can't Touch This!" is a reference to MC Hammer's song, "Can't Touch This">

"Go For The Eyes!" is a reference to Baldur's Gate.

"Never Give Up!" and "Never Surrender!" are references to the film, Galaxy Quest.

"It's just a flesh wound!" is a reference to the Black Knight in the film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

"The Power is Yours!" is a reference to the TV show, Captain Planet.

Foreshadowing
If you stand outside of Ashford Abbey in pre-Searing and look in through the fence by the statue, you can see a ghost who ends up being a boss in the Underworld.

Quests / Missions
Dropping Eaves is the name of a quest in the Maguuma Jungle. In the film, Lord of the Rings, the Fellowship of the Ring, Gandalf accuses Sam of eavesdropping, and he claims that he "ain't been droppin' no eaves".

When one of the dwarves gives you a mission, he says that you should take the high road, and he will take the low road. A reference to the song "Loch Lomand", in which the line goes "You take the high road and I'll take the low road and I'll be in Scotland 'afore ye."

The shape of Sanctum Cay is the logo from Thundercats.

Language choice on the Options screen
Scroll to the bottom and you can choose "bork, bork bork", and things will display in the Swedish Chef's language from the Muppets.

Just plain funny
During the Dunes of Despair mission, if you spam-click on the Hero while he's at the Altar, he'll eventually say these two lines:
"Can’t you find something better to do with your hands than touching me?"
"Do not disturb me while I’m on the throne."

If someone gets hit by the skill, Cry of Frustration, a text box appears above their head saying "@#$!".
